Maxima will begin a new series of interviews with curators and art critics, starting next Thursday, July 1, at its headquarters located on Monserrate and Tejadillo streets. The first guest will be curator Nelson Herrera Ysla, who has collaborated with our gallery on other occasions.

Recognized in the guild for his good performance, Ysla was in charge of the curatorship of the exhibition Finale Worlds held in 2019 in our exhibition space, with great acceptance among the spectators. So much so that its durability time was extended for three months, when the exhibition was thought at the beginning for 30 days.

Without neglecting the usual section of interviews with creators in the Máxima catalog, this initiative is now added to debate on the incipient art market, criticism, curatorship as it is logical, as well as the need for the work of the gallery owner in our country and the near future of Cuban art, among other topics.

In a difficult scenario resulting from the strong presence of the pandemic in Cuba, we can find a sigh of light and good energy in the visual arts of the largest of the Antilles. Likewise, Maxima will always be a stage, a bridge and a way to discuss the most immediate reality of Cuban creators, in addition to its rhythm of exhibitions and community work with children, when conditions allow it.

Next Thursday we will record the interview with Herrera Ysla, which will be released on Friday, July 2. We will have, also, a streaming through the gallery's Facebook as a prelude to the aforementioned dialogue.
